Nina Persson is playing for Barack Obama tonight in New York as part of “Barack Rock” night.

Conor Oberst, Stone Gossard, Will.I.Am, Graham Nash also support Obama

Ok Go, A Camp (feat. Nina Persson), Craig Wedren and Nathan Larson of Shudder to Think, and Joan As Policewoman are lined up to play ‘Barack Rock’ tonight in New York.

The acts will join reunited comedy trio ‘Stella’ (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and David Wain) at Bowery Ballroom to show support for US presidential candidate Barack Obama on the eve of the Super Tuesday primary elections. The evening is also intended to urge young voters to vote tomorrow to determine the final candidates in the presidential race.

Obama is enjoying support from many musicians on his campaign, with donations from Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst, of Crosby Stills Nash & Young and Nile Rogers[b] of Chic.

A video featuring William, Scarlett Johansson, Common, John Legend and Aisha Tyler appeared on youtube over the weekend to support Obama, while The Grateful Dead are playing a reunion concert in San Francisco today to raise funds for his race.

Barbara Streisand also made a donation to Obama’s campaign, and the diva also gave money to Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Christopher Dodd.

Meanwhile, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic made a donation to the campaign of Ron Paul.

Nina Persson releases single with the Manic Street Preachers

Posted: December 22nd, 2007 | Author: admin | Filed under: Music | Tags: , | No Comments »

‘Send Away The Tigers’ is the eighth studio album from the Welsh rock group Manic Street Preachers. The title comes from a saying Tony Hancock used to use when he wanted a drink (similar to “the demons are coming”). Nina Persson and Manic Street PreachersIt deals with Tony Hancock and the decline of Tony Blair. The liberation of the zoo in Baghdad has also played a central theme. Tracks include ‘Rendition’ (vaguely based on Jack Lemmon in the film ‘Missing’ and mixed with the CIA act of rendition). Nina (from The Cardigans) also makes an appearance on ‘Your Love Alone Is Not Enough’ and ‘Autumn Song’ which carries on the same sort of ideals that ‘Sweet Child O Mine’ reflected about falling in love.
