Nina Persson keeps a low profile and rarely talks about her private life. Only a few people were aware of the grief she carried on and the suffering she had to go through.
Until now, when she tells of the horror of the news she had.
“Gynecologist called and wanted me to come in”, she says.
She sensed mischief. She had undergone a fertility control. And waited for the results back from testing. But had not expected that the gynecologist would like to talk to her again.
“They told me I had cancer that had spread up over the edges of the uterus.
The situation was serious and only an operation could save the uterus and increase her chances of having children.”
Nina was anesthetized down, which she felt was very uncomfortable, and the surgery took place.
- When I woke up I wanted to know if they removed all but the uterus was left.
But she was so dazed by the anesthetic that she did not really understand that the surgery went well.
- I certainly cocks of five times before I understood, she says,
It is in the movie soon to be released “I am my own Dolly Parton” which she candidly talks about cervical cancer that struck her.
When she recovered as expected job creation. Together with her husband Nathan Larson and band A Camp. She just did not have time to try to get pregnant.
- Children had to wait. It was too close to what happened.
- I went back to therapy and participated in cancer support meetings.
And eventually she felt mature. And she succeeded. On 30 September, she and her husband Nathan had a son – Nils.
Nina had wanted to be a mother before. She harvested success worldwide with the hit band Cardigans. But behind the glossy facade was a deeply unhappy person. She was not feeling well. And it was noticeable.
- I was caught by a nasty type. And I was also full of hatred.
She says she thought it was uncomfortable to even be photographed.
- It felt like I lost a piece of my soul.
She took a timeout from the band. It is still ongoing. Her son Nils is so far not even half a year.
- But I’m thinking about how to bring children into the studio and onto the tour?
