Nina will be performing The Debt Rattle on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (10/22-24) of this week with Citizen’s Band at Abrons Art Center in New York, NY. Filled with classic and original songs, aerial arts, dance, and a generous sprinkling of the Citizen’s Band’s magic, The Debt Rattle looks to the past to find hope in the future.
Nathan did the scores for two films that will premiere at the CMJ Film Festival this week: Bananas!* directed by Fredrick Gertten and The Messenger directed by Oren Moverman and starring Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster, Steve Buscemi, and Samantha Morton. He was also recently honored with the George Delerue prize for Best Music for “A Rational Solution” by Jörgen Bergmark.
For those of you lucky soles that live in New York City, A Camp has announced an upcoming one off gig.
A Camp is pleased to announce that on November 17th, 2009 they will be hosting a quiet, intimate evening with A Camp at the fine establishment of Le Poisson Rouge in New York, NY. They would be delighted if you could join them for music and camaraderie.

Nina Persson Age: Turns 35 years on 6 September.
Family: Mom, Dad, 2 brothers, nephew and husband Nathan Larson

Nina Persson: “It must never become ‘perfect’, then it becomes uninteresting.”
- When I make music and I’ll do it without instruments. It is like a melody in my head and I have to sit with someone who plays and song takes shape chord after chord.

Nina and her team – her husband Nathan Larson and producer Niclas Frisk – working closely. The musicians put toner on it to Nina imagined. For one year she took lessons in classical piano. But Nina was never a friend of the instrument, although she learned fingerings and scales up to perfection.
- I did not know what I would use the piano – I could not imagine – I simply can not handle the tool in a satisfactory manner.
Therefore, it is often the case that Nina may be a finished melody as she writes the text. Yet she is always anxious for the creative process and say they are “suck” on to discipline themselves. Not infrequently, she is the last to deliver.
- It may sound like a contradiction but I certainly do not think it’s fun to create, at the time. Instead, I shoot on deadlines and waiting, but when I get something done, it is actually a fantastic experience!
The words will not be automatic. She may, for example, start with a phrase that sounds good or word that rings in a certain way or feel comfortable in the mouth. Sometimes it takes Nina springboard in previous productions, sometimes in a completely new feeling.
- It’s about finding a harmony and balance. It may never be “perfect”, then it becomes uninteresting.
